how does it work?


The first Hungarian coaching process model, 6A was developed by Laura Komócsin and Nikoletta Benedek. 6A consists of these 6 steps:

1. ASSESSMENT. In this phase the coach explores the initial circumstances: what is the starting point, where does the coaching process start, what are the client’s challenges. There are several ways to assess the situation properly, we can employ various means. But first and foremost it is very important to create a trusting and confidental relationship to assure the client, that we ’interrogate’ (questioning technique), ’lurk around’ (shadowing) and ’spy on him/her’ (360 degree assessment) for his/her own interest.

2. AIM SETTING. The next step, when the client sets the desired direction and goal with the coach’s help. In this stage the coach basically helps the client to set a realistic and measurable goal what he/she can reach and so the successfulness of the coaching process becomes measurable too.

3. ALTERNATIVES. We explore different options and possibilities to determine how to reach the goals set before. This stage is also very important for the clientin order not to rush to conclusions, but arrive at a reasonable decision in the next stage considering various options.

4. AGREEMENT. The coach supports the client to decide which way to follow within the selected alternatives. The biggest help here is analysing the pros and cons of the options, but dozens of other possibilities can be found among the coach’s toolkit.

5. APPLICATION. The coach supports his/her client going down the chosen road, reaching his/her goals and not back down at the first obstacle.In this stage has the client to leave his/her zone of comfort.

6. ACCOMPLISHMENT. The coaching process ideally comes to an end when the client reached the proposed object. The coach and the client celebrate the success together and also sum up the common work towards the contractor.
